TMD Intraoral Massage
Do you recognize the following symptoms?
- Tension headache
- Jaw pain
- Difficulty opening your mouth
- Jaw clenching
- Tongue pressing
- Tinnitus
- Clicking in the jaw joint
- Neck pain
Muscular problems are the most common. They are often related to overuse, such as teeth grinding and clenching. Teeth grinding means you rub your teeth against each other. The other variant is ‘teeth clenching,’ where you bite down firmly. The force exerted on the teeth can be very strong and sometimes lead to dental fillings breaking. Both of these conditions involve overloading the jaw muscles. Muscles tire quickly, leading to jaw pain and/or headaches. It is common to grind or clench teeth at night. In the mornings, you feel stiff and tired in your jaw muscles, and may also have a headache.
What does a treatment involve?
A jaw joint treatment takes approximately 60 minutes, and I work through the entire jaw musculature, including muscles inside the mouth. Using a variety of techniques, your jaw muscles will be massaged, stretched, pressure-treated, and mobilized. I also address the neck/throat area to release all tension.
How often do you need to go?
You will notice a significant difference after just one jaw joint treatment. Most people also experience a very significant improvement in night-time sleep. 4-8 sessions are recommended, but this is individual.
